Team Work Effectiveness
There
are many reasons why a team is much more effective when doing projects than working
alone. There are three important reasons
why teams are effective. First, the tasks and projects are completed much faster.
Second, relationships can be improved which in turn creates better performance.
Third, there are many different people in the group and they can learn things
from each other.
First,
the tasks and projects are completed much faster because the work is split up.
When working on a project all alone a person is responsible for all the work
which could be very stressful. As stated on the management study guide online
(2008-2012), “Every team member is assigned one or the other responsibility according
to his specialization.” According to the quote there will be things others
specialize in, and since they are specialists they will get their part done
quickly.
Second,
relationships can be improved which can create better performance within the
team. When you working on a project in teams sometimes you will be paired with
those you do not know very well. Since you work very closely with a team you
will get to know the individuals in the team and how they work. Once you know
how people work, team performance will become better and you will achieve great
results (Jones, 2013).
Third,
there are many different people in teams and you can learn things from the
other members. According to the management study guide online (2008-2012), “One
can always benefit something or the other from his team members which would
help him in the long run.” Chances are that when you start a project there are
skills you do not have and need to complete the project. Since you do not have
all the necessary skills you will learn them from a group member who does have
them. The skills you learn will be of benefit to you, especially in the long
run when you are paired up in other groups.
In conclusion, teams are very
effective tools when used properly. If
used properly teams can get work done much faster, improve relationships, and help
develop new skills. Teams are beneficial to everyone and not just one
individual.
